I have a machine in my home which has proven itself invaluable time after time.  So invaluable that it has become one of the most reliable devices and, therefore, concepts in my life.

In an attempt to be delicate, while still making my point, allow me to elaborate.  My puppy (no matter how old he is, he will always be my puppy) often finds himself in need of an immediate expulsion of items from his little body.  Whether from the stem or from the bow, out they come with the ceremonious heaving or odor announcing their arrival.

I can’t speak for your pets, but mine inevitably prefer their precious paws rest upon the soft and secure carpeted surfaces during this event, rather than upon hardwood or tile.  As an aside, also noted is the conspicuous absence of all other human residents in the aftermath of said event, leaving the clean up to me.  But I digress…

Several years ago my canine companion engaged in a Midnight Madness Elimination Extravaganza, frantically scurrying about, spreading the joy from one carpeted room to another.  My son, having determined that he could no longer stomach the fallout, volunteered for the ultimate sacrifice and headed to WalMart at 2:00am.  Cloaked in darkness of night, he purchased a portable carpet cleaner.  My life was profoundly changed in the wee (pun intended) hours of that morning.  God has allowed us to cure diseases, travel into space and enjoy Disney on Demand, but I have yet to find anything comparable to the satisfaction gained from this device.

With the latest biohazard behind me, I reflected on the concept of having something  equally reliable and with such restorative power.

When I mess up and spew sinful thoughts and behaviors all over the carpet of my life and testimony, I have a Savior who is faithful to restore me.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
John 1:9 NIV
